Something For Everyone
Dubbed one of the UK's friendliest towns, Bolton has something for everyone. The town of Bolton dates back to before 1251, it has a famous market that started trading in 1253 and is still there today. Samual Crompton invented the Spinning Mule whilst living in Bolton. The Spinning Mule revolutionised the cottage spinning and weaving industry that contributed to Bolton's massive growth through history right up to modern day. On the outskirts of Bolton is picturesque Rivington which attracts cycling enthusiasts from all over the country. Rivington has hundreds of cycling routes, both on road and extreme trails for the thrill seeking mountain biker.
Bolton Ironman & Marathon
The beautiful lake swim takes place in Pennington Flash. There are numerous viewing opportunities for spectators at the start. Cyclists will embark on a 112-mile, two-loop journey from Pennington Flash and into the breathtaking countryside. The bike course includes the famous Sheep House Lane and new to 2019 the course now takes athletes into the heart of Bolton with cyclists riding on the cobbles of Le Mans Crescent, where spectators can get up close and personal with the athletes. The run begins at Queens Park and athletes will head into Bolton town centre, out and back through Queens Park completing four loops before finishing in Victoria Square. The Bolton Ironman will be held Sunday July 12th 2020
